The primary purpose of this position is to provide legal, technical, and administrative assistance to the Numbered Air Force Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) and professional staff.
Responsible for administering the Administrative Separation of Airmen Program. Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents.
Composes and prepares legal correspondence and documents, such as requests for information, and letters of acknowledgement or notification.
Receives telephone calls and greets visitors in support of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate.
Schedules travel of the Staff Judge Advocate and meetings, appointments, and conferences for the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate. Establishes, updates, and maintains office records of various types.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: One year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been at the GS-05 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service. Examples of creditable specialized experience include:
a comprehensive knowledge of a body of legal rules and procedures to process legal assistant assignments of substantial difficulty; broad working knowledge of specialized regulatory and procedural requirements to support legal staff and provide legal services; assisting the legal staff in tracking case precedence, legal citations, and statutory references.

Federal Time-In-Grade
(TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions:
Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-05 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral.
The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of rules, procedures, policies, and programs of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate to perform the procedural and administrative work of the organization such as preparing and editing legal documents and administrative correspondence, maintaining files and records, and assembling information for various legal documents and reports; and knowledge of inter- and intra-office referral policies concerning a wide range of legal activities.
Knowledge of office functions to screen telephone calls and visitors, prepare and review correspondence, and perform other administrative work of the organization.
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and required legal formats and directives regarding preparation of written communications to produce legal and administrative documents and communications.
Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to interpret and apply specialized regulatory and procedural requirements to process involuntary discharges.
