The Licensure and Regulatory Affairs Paralegal is responsible for regulatory tracking and monitoring activities to ensure that the Company! 's agencies and facilities are in compliance with applicable state and Federal laws, including, specifically the Medicare and Medicaid conditions of participation and other rules and regulations issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Regulatory Affairs Paralegal works under the direction of the In-House Counsel and works as part of a cross-functional team of legal, human resources, compliance and operations representatives.
Compile, analyze and evaluate regulatory developments, on a real-time basis to ensure that the company's continued compliance with applicable state and Federal laws. Collaborate with other internal departments in the creation and distribution of guidance and educational materials relating to all State and Federal laws and regulation changes. Coordinate the gathering of information from various business groups, operating companies, and departments in connection with the preparation of regulatory analyses, applications and o! ther regulatory reports. Continuous tracking of all regulatory! developments to keep internal clients and others informed of the status of such developments and related issues, as appropriate. Maintain regulatory research in an organized and accessible format. Perform a variety of legal and analytic assignments under the direction of attorneys within the Legal Department using legal, financial, and other related information. Demonstrate a positive, flexible, customer comes first attitude. Uphold strict confidentiality at all times regarding all legal department matters, including but not limited to pending and completed negotiations. Prioritize and manage assignments quickly, accurately and efficiently. Participate in and facilitate the preparation, execution and administration of licenses, permits and other regulatory filings. Continuous tracking of all regulatory filings, with particular emphasis on expirations and renewals and keep internal clients and others informed of filing status and related issues, as appropriate. Maintain bot! h pending and completed filings in an organized and accessible system. Ensure that all filings are completed, signed, delivered and processed in a timely manner. Gathers information from relevant departments and completes annual reports as required by state agencies. Communicates both orally and in writing with internal clients to advise and comment on licensure and regulatory matters. Manage special projects and perform other related duties asassigned. Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with team members and others by demonstrating productivity, initiative, willingness to learn, flexibility, respect, cooperation and commitment to the organization's mission and business goals. Requirements Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred. Prefer BA or BS in health-related related field. 2 years or more experience in a legal or regulatory paralegal position strongly preferred.
Required Skills:
Knowledge! of Federal and state healthcare laws and regulations. Excellent organi! zational, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize and manage numerous tasks quickly, accurately and efficiently in a fast paced environment under strict deadlines. Demonstrates good judgment - i.e., someone who instinctively knows when and from whom to seek advice.
