Special Assets Assistant

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana

Description: Hancock Bank is employing Special Assets Assistant right now, this position will be designated in Louisiana. Summary Monitors and maintains loans assigned to the Special Asset Department and follows procedures to ensure that the following duties are fulfilled.

Essential Duties and! Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reviews “Foreclosure Request Forms” for completeness

Monitors the software queue to ensure that accounts earmarked for foreclosure are worked timely

Prepares, submits for processing and ensures completion of maintenance forms as required

Requests copies of all loan documents

Verifies that all required insurances are in place and are that they are active and premiums are paid for both SAD and ORE.

Documents that procedures itemized on the ORE checklist to protect the Bank’s assets have been performed (paying property tax, obtaining insurance, etc.) and if any procedures have not, forwards it to the appropriate person.

Orders current appraisal and phase I Environmental as needed

Inputs each new transfer of ORE property on the system and liquidates them after the property has been sold

Assist in reconciliation of ORE prop! erty values to the General Ledger

Assists in updating! the HB Intranet with new postings, monitoring pending sales and deleting the postings after a property has been sold

Assists in preparing an ORE mailing list of prospective buyers and maintains it

Assists in making sure all expenses paid on behalf of an ORE property (taxes, insurance, etc.) balances to the expense total in the General Ledger

Assists in the summarization of all ORE sales monthly for the prior month as well as Sales and inventory trends by the 2nd working day of the month

Assists SAD officers with various support functions - examples are UCC Searches, property tax searches and copying of files

Maintains knowledge of SBA process, including but not limited to origination, servicing and liquidation process

Reviews loan documentation prepared by another area and schedules loan closings with customers

Assists customers in day to day transactions such as transfers from one account to another and advanc! es on lines of credit

Assists officer in getting updated financial information and forwarding information to the credit file

Engages attorneys to do the loan closing and works closely with attorneys to make sure loan documentation on the front- and back-end are correct

Attends loan closings as needed

Provides the required information requested by internal and external auditors and FDIC examiners

Education and/or Experience High School diploma is required, Bachelor's degree preferred; 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
