Administrative Legal Assistant

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana

Description: Tulane University is currently seeking to employ Administrative Legal Assistant right now, this career will be designated in Louisiana. The Administrative Legal Assistant provides professional legal and administrative support to the attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel, Health Sciences Center.
MEDICAL MALPRACTICE CLAIMS : Assist attorneys with medical malpractice claims and medical review panel process. Assist attorneys with drafting legal documents, routine correspondence; court filings and submissions of evidence. Organize and maintain patient medical records. Prepare malpractice files for closure in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

LOUISIANA PATIENT COMPENSATION FUND : Maintain database for the Louisiana Patient’s Compensation Fund ( PCF ). Interaction with the School of Medicine administrators regarding PCF enrollment and/or termination process. Process PCF enrollment, termination and credentialing requests.

OFFICE ADMINISTRATION : Answer phone calls, e-mails, facsimiles and relay messages accurately. Maintain files. Prepare payment requests. Reconcile vendor invoices. Make travel arrangements and request reimbursement for travel expenses. Assume additional duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Five years legal secretarial or administrative legal ass! istance experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet crucial deadlines

Ability to interact professionally and courteously

Minimum Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

Some college

Medical Malpractice experience

Knowledge of Imanage (document management software) and Concur (accounting software)

Knowledge of Federal HIPAA guidelines

Louisiana Notarial Commission
