SUBSTITUTIONS: Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate deg! ree. Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows: A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree. 30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. 60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. 90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. 120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-t! ime work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree! . NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
There are two vacancies available. The vacancies are located in the Collections- Southwest Division- Lafayette Office. There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $2,071.33 monthly for the Revenue Tax Officer 1 and $ 2369.47 monthly for Revenue Tax Officer 2 . As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Revenue Tax Officer 1 or 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The maximum salary for the Revenue Tax Officer 2 is $58,240. Job Distinctions:
Differs from Revenue Tax Analysts by the presence of professional level responsibility for the collection of delinquent taxes.
Differs from Revenue Tax Officer 2 by the absence of responsibility for working in a Regional Office, requiring active performance of field collection work.
Examples of Work:
Researches delinquent tax cases through computer and financial institution records, Clerks of Court, Internal Revenue Service, and other governmental offices for the purpose of locating assets in order to effect the collection of the state taxes due.
Works with taxpayers, accountants, CPAs, and attorneys to obtain Statements of Financial Condition and all necessary do! cumentation needed to request an Offer of Compromise; reviews all infor! mation before submitting offer for further approval.
Collects delinquent taxes through personal contact or by garnishing wages, levying on bank accounts, filing tax liens, seizing property, revocation of licenses, or cease and desist orders.
Inspects vendor operations and collects taxes at special events.
Conducts detailed analysis on accounts in which returns are being recommended for acceptance after the assessment has become final; makes adjustments to calculated additional tax, penalty and interest, if applicable.
