Reporting & Analytics Technical Analyst*

Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science required. Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a degree.

Minimum of two years of Health Operations, Data Quality Assurance, or Process Assurance/Auditor experience is required.

One year of experience working directly with the Facets Data Marts and Data Model using a database application is preferred.

Must be able to use a variety of applications to perform data analysis, monitoring, and develop and execute ad hoc queries and reporting. Extensive experience in using the database applications Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server for building complex queries, data manipulation, analysis, and ad hoc reporting is required. MS Excel experience required.

Must be able to solve data related problems and perform analysis and reporting services under critical time constraints.

Must have demonstrated experience determining best practices and suggesting how to improve current practices. Must be able to optimize queries and design data structures in adherence with sound database design as well as following departmental guidelines.

Knowledge of business quality assurance methodologies and ability to apply them is required.

Experience using SAS and/or Crystal Reports is preferred.

Understanding of the differences between integrated, interdependent, and interfaced systems and their impacts on each other required.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical terminology and processes to functional users.

Must be able to independently assess the accuracy of report design in order to verify that the data being used, as well as the logic within the report itself is accurate.

Ability to understand, troubleshoot and identify solutions and formulate and apply calculations for trending, analysis and reporting is required.

Ability to work well with business and technical resources to comprehensively identify and document detailed business requirements is required.

Excellent interpersonal skills with an attitude of service toward peers, customers and other employees is also required.

Must be able to work with large and complex, new database data models and perform the independent research necessary to understand where to find the data needed within the database. Must have experience connecting to large databases and building complex queries on the tables and views contained within the database, to obtain large and small volume datasets for reporting and analysis.

Must be able to independently and comprehensively develop and execute all quality control processes (e.g., queries, test scenarios, etc.) to ensure the highest possible data quality and accuracy.

Proven ability to understand and follow directions and execute assigned tasks on time is required.

Ability to organize, prioritize multiple tasks and projects, and deliver priority work quickly is necessary.

Must be able to judge severity of problems and the need to escalate to management or employ external services.

Must be self directed, able to learn new software and skills independently as needed. Must be able to research and resolve issues with minimal oversight.

Ability to assist in comprehensive testing of reports for both interdepartmental and external reporting used by other departments and/or group administrators is required.

ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Architects complex analytics, database or reporting solutions, and oversees the work of Business Analysts to administer these and other more complex solutions for a variety of business needs.

Responsible for work at the highest technical level of most phases of system data analysis while considering the business implications of the application of designed solution to the current and future business environment.

Implements solutions which result in efficient, accurate and quality configuration and maintenance of databases and queries used for operational and administrative reporting and analysis.

Assists with the decision-making process for identifying, selecting, and modeling solutions to meet needs, goals, and metrics identified by operations and/or other analysts.

Develops and/or maintains detailed documentation to support identified recordkeeping and change control standards of the core and integrated systems’ configuration and design, as well as the training and development of other analysts supporting the core or integrated systems.

Pursues and identifies personal and professional development opportunities independently to ensure growth and ability to perform at a higher level of quality and productivity.

This position reports to the Manager, Benefits Administration Reporting & Analytics.
