Description GENERAL SUMMARY: The Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory Compliance will collaborate with business un! it managers and organizational leadership, to review, evaluate, analyze and provide counsel on compliance regulatory matters involving federal and state laws and regulations governing the provision of health care services. This attorney will be required to keep current with applicable regulatory and legal developments and timely communicate to the organization all significant and applicable pending and actual decisions, legislation and regulatory rulings impacting the organization. The incumbent will collaborate with business partners to educate employees on regulatory changes and assist, as needed, with plans for implementation of necessary changes. As instructed, this attorney will also collaborate to develop, revise and implement procedures, policies and programs that reflect compliance with applicable laws, rules and recommendations. Demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner's "Expectations" as duties are performed on a daily basis. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. Educati! on, Experience & Training: 1. Undergraduate and Juris Doctorat! e degrees. 2. Admission to a state bar with an active membership in good standing. 3. Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, law firm experience preferred. 4. Knowledge of and/or exposure to federal and state healthcare program requirements preferred, as is a working knowledge of issues involving Medicare and Medicaid and other hospital regulatory compliance program obligations. 5. Prior experience working with or for an integrated healthcare delivery system preferred. B. Other Qualifications: 1. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Must be able to prepare and present regulatory changes and operational impacts to diverse audiences, including physicians, management and staff. 2. Ability to handle legal and compliance issues in a practical and efficient manner; excellent analytical skills; flexibility and willingness to work under pressure with tight deadlines. 3. Self-directed with strong analytical and operational problem solving skills. Advance! d judgment and decision making skills required. 4. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexi bility with regard to varied assignments and willingness to develop new areas of expertise are expected. 5. Ability to foster an environment of teamwork, professionalism, customer satisfaction, high performance, and mutual respect of others.
