Compliance/Risk ManagerSUPERVISOR: General Manager EXEMPT (Y/N): YesPosition Summary: Under general direction from the General Manager, assists in the process of developing and implementing c! asino internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable tribal, federal and state gaming regulations. Develops and implements risk-management, safety, and loss-prevention programs. Maintains strict confidentiality of privileged information. Essential Duties Responsibilities: Maintains a working knowledge of relevant gaming issues and/or regulations, and Tribal Minimum Internal Control Standards. Works with casino departments to research and write appropriate and efficient internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with tribal, state, and federal gaming regulations. Drafts written responses to internal and external audit reports. Investigates and assists in resolving issues of non-compliance. Serves as a resource for casino departments in addressing compliance issues Keeps leadership and other departments informed of s! tatus of compliance activities by attending meetings and submi! tting reports. Develops and performs risk assessments, loss-prevention and compliance audit programs.Initiates policies to comply with safety legislation and industry practicesResearches and reports on the most cost effective plans to minimize asset liability Acts as the liaison to attorneys, insurance companies and individuals, investigating any incidences that may result in asset loss Executes compliance audit programs, and summarizes findings in a clear and concise written report. Develops and delivers Compliance and Safety training materials and programs. Schedules training and testing for Title 31. Ensures full compliance with departmental internal controls, policies, procedures and regulations.Maintains accurate, detailed records of internal control activity. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societ! ies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations. Performs other duties as required.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance plus three years audit, regulatory compliance, risk management experience in a casino. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license. Tribal preference. Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications: Knowledge of general accounting, auditing, and internal control principals/standards and investigational techniques. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements. Knowledge of tribal gaming operations. Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment, specifically Wo! rd, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Skill in analyzing problems, projecti! ng consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations. Skill in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational and financial reports. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels. Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines. Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment. Ability to review operational areas, identify key internal controls, and draft sound, effective, and operationally efficient internal controls. Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regul! arly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Work Environment: Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Occasional work is performed in a Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
