It was founded in 2001 to provide capital appellate representation to indigent people on Louisiana's ! death row. One of the leading death penalty appeals offices in the South, CAP has provided top notch representation to its clients before the Louisiana Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court and has acted as a resource to public defenders and criminal defense lawyers across the state. CAP's efforts on its clients' behalf and in providing training and counsel to other public defenders have improved the quality and standards of representation for indigent defendants and prisoners in Louisiana.

CAP is seeking a full-time Office and Finance Manager to manage financial records and oversee administrative functioning of the office. Responsibilities include:

Financial

Maintain financial records; track and report income; prepare standard financial reports for director and board of directors as requested

Oversee and process accounts payable, accounts receivable and employee reimbursements

Work with payroll company to process pay! roll and related taxes

Manage the month-end and year-! end close processes including bank reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, receivables, balance sheet accounts, adjusting journal entries, financial statements and tax returns within established deadlines

Serve as point of contact during annual fiscal audit and ensure integrity of all preliminary reports including but not limited to quarter end reports and financial statements

Assist in yearly budget preparation; manage budget and cash projections on on-going basis; review and analyze expenses to ensure adherence to budget and efficiency

Allocate income and expenses to designated funds and produce financial data reports for grant making organizations

Ensure data integrity, appropriate internal controls, proper accounting methodology and adherence to internal and external reporting deadlines as related to general accepted accounting principles; revise and develop up-to-date fiscal policies

Maintain vendor contracts and relati! onships

Human Resources

Maintain personnel files and staff timesheets

Coordinate recruiting, hiring, and firing

Provide new employee orientation and training

Manage benefits

Coordinate and participate in performance evaluations

Coordinate ongoing staff training

Office Management

Maintain organized office and administrative files

Manage office insurance policies and accounts

Assist director in developing office policies as needed, and implement and monitor adherence to policies

Plan and organize office space and office file storage

Order office supplies, furniture, equipment, and books

Interface with IT consultant to ensure that computer system and office equipment run smoothly

Other Duties

Facilitate board of director communications and board meetings

Assist director in developing and implementing strategic planning
Manage website and all external communications

Coordinate sp! ecial events as needed

Assist director with correspondence and communication

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Excellent computer skills, with proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel required

Management level or financial experience with an agency or department with a $1 million+ budget

Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to work as part of a team

Great oral and written communication skills

Willingness to work night and weekend hours as needed

An interest in CAP's mission is preferred.

Salary

45-55K, depending on experience, and benefits
