DUTIES:
The incumbent serves as the principle Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist of Radiology Service. The incumbent is physically located in the Radiology Service. This position is aligned under the chief radiologic technologist/AO to the Chief of Radiology. The incumbent supervises designated technical and support staff in Radiology at Overton Brooks Veterans Affairs Medical Center and associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (Longview, TX, Texarkana, AR, and Monroe, LA). The incumbent performs a full range of supervisory duties. The incumbent possesses a working knowledge of overall radiology department operations, and the ability to judge effectiveness of the operation and recommend improvements. Incumbent will possess the ability to monitor and evaluate subordinates supervisors' and leads' performances and formulate plans, delegate authority, and follow-up o! n delegated tasks. Participates in organizational facility initiatives, workgroups, and/or committees. Incumbent will draft and/or recommend organizational policies and/or directives. This assignment is restricted t employees serving as a full assistant to a GS-12 chief radiologic technologist. Individuals in this assignment share full responsibility for managing the radiologic technology section.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
a. Citizenship.
Citizen of the United States.
b. Certification.
All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R).
c. Experience or Education.
Completion of a full! -time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent! ) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associateÂ's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiology.
NOTE:
Non-certified applicants who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for ARRT (R) certification may be given a temporary appointment as a graduate DRT under the authority of 38 U.S.C. § 7405 (a) (1) (D). Failure to obtain certification during that period is justification for termination of the temporary appointment. This may result in termination of employment.
d. Physical Requirements.

e. English Language Proficiency.
Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Public Law 97-35, the Consu! mer-Patient Radiation Health and Safety Act of 1981, requires that pers! ons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75, Standards for the Accreditation of Educational Programs and the Credentialing of Radiographic Personnel. Essentially, they must have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and be certified as radiographers in their field.
