Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Description: Watco Companies, Inc. is presently looking of Trainmaster right now, this position will be situated in Louisiana. Further informations about this position opportunity please read the description below. General Summary:
Supervises and coordinates activities of train crew engaged in switching railroad cars within yard of railroad, industrial plant, or similar location to facilitate loading or! unloading of cars or making up and breaking up of trains; and/or switches railroad cars within yard of railroad, industrial plant, or similar location to load and unload cars or to make up or break up trains in a safe and efficient manner, by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned, as requested or required.

1. Supervises and coordinates the activities of train crews.

2. Receives oral or written instructions from Manager or Customer indicating which cars are to be switched.

3. Notifies engineer of switching orders and, whereby, which cars are to be moved to specified locations of yard, using radio, telephone, verbal or hand signals. Gives instructions to throw track switches and to couple and uncouple cars.

4. Manage cars online through various RMI reports.

5. Must ensure daily train lists are accurate as generated by the customer service! department, and accurate as completed by the train crews with! in his/her territory.

6. Must ensure all reporting is done accurately and timely, including daily crew work sheets and weekly operational reporting.

7. Download and effectively read a locomotive event recorder.

8. Clearly understand car hire and demurrage.

9. Approve all man hours under his/her area of responsibility, and forward these hours to the necessary personnel or department on a timely basis.

10. Initiate and provide an accurate, complete, and timely investigation of all accidents and incidents, including causes, remedial action, and recommended solutions.

11. Understand the quantitative factors contributing to the major costs on the railroad, and understand the extent of their effect toward financial performances.

12. Adjust locomotive requirements to consists based on HP and trailing tons on a daily basis, with a goal to minimize locomotive fuel and maximize locomotive utilization.

13. Underst! and all outstanding track conditions within his/her territory, including slow orders, and their affect on productivity/efficiency.

14. Other duties as requested or required.

Education/Experience:
High school education or general education development (GED), and minimum of 6 months job-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses:
Must hold, and continue to hold, a current locomotive engineers and conductors certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of and skills in applying basic federal railroad regulations, guidelines and rules.

2. Ability to read and comprehend written safety rules, procedure and safety manuals, government regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, memos and other work-related information.

3. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, ora! l, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and/or to apply principles of logic ! to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; and/or to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems.

4. Ability to effectively communicate instructions, directions, processes, procedures, safety rules and regulations to co-workers, supervisors, and others in written, oral, diagrammatic and schedule form.

5. Ability to train switch crews and other yard personnel to perform job-related duties; and to provide training related to federal and company regulations, rules, safety guidelines and preventive maintenance.

6. Ability to make independent judgments using sound reasoning skills and knowledge base.

7. Ability to think and act quickly in responding to emergency and non-emergency situations.

8. Ability to talk to and effectively communicate with co-workers, yard personnel, switching crew, engineers, railroad officials and others in a clear, concise, courteous, efficient and profe! ssional manner.

9. Ability to pass training and required testing.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Specific vision abilities with this job require close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); and distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); and peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); and depth perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distances); and ability to adjust focus; and ability to identify and distinguish colors in order to perform switching duties, read railroad or yard traffic signals, hand signals, lantern signals, and track obstructions and observe other activities within railroad or yard traffic 100% of time.

Must be able to talk and/or hear well enough! to communicate with co-workers, engineers, train crew, yard crew, and ! customers 100% of time.
