Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Manage IP department functions including docketing and all IP matters for one or more global business units. Coordinate and interact with business, R&D, Law, and! outside agents to effectively protect Albemarle's IP.

Accountabilities
Ensure that all deadlines of patent office responses and patent filings are timely, efficiently, and precisely filed.
Manage quarterly business team meetings

Responsibilities
Reviews and dockets all incoming U. S. and Foreign patent-related mail
Maintains current docket of all due dates for US and foreign patent cases.
Creates docket calendar to keep attorneys, agents, etc apprised of due dates and distributes to necessary department personnel.
Works closely and cooperatively with secretaries, attorneys and other office personnel to assess where practice changes are necessary in view of attorney needs and/or patent office changes and implements new changes for those needs.
Ensures that all data is accurately entered into database and also create records which reflect file information as completely as possible.
Follows up to be sure we have responded to a! ll due dates, notifies responsible attorney of any problems in! this area.
Performs legal searches as requested by attorneys.
Knowledge of and keeps abreast of 37 C.F.R. Rules and MPEP rules.
Assist Attorneys on other matters as the need arises.
Responsible for adhering to the company's general safety practices and any unique safety practices for the department.
Work toward achieving IP Group goals.

The successful candidate must have a paralegal certificate from an accredited program and 5+ years intellectual property experience. The preferred candidate has experience with a wide range of IP matters, including experience in managing IP dockets, patent and intellectual property filing and protection, and related IP issues and matters for a business division or small company. The preferred candidate has at least:

Extensive patent filing and prosecution experience, including foreign prosecution management and management of prosecution and preparation through outside law firms.
Experience working w! ith outside counsel to effectively file, prosecute, docket, and manage intellectual property portfolios.
Extensive experience interacting with attorneys and business associates
Docket management experience

Candidates will hold a paralegal certificate from an accredited program. Equivalent experience may also be considered.

Candidates must be fluent in English.

Preferred candidates will also have experience managing other departmental members including paralegals and/or administrative assistants.
