SUBSTITUTIONS: Six years of full-time work experience in any fi! eld may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree. Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows: A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree. 30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. 60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. 90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. 120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but with! out a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time w! ork experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment of a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment. Willingness and ability to handle and carry firearms. Willingness and ability to complete Corrections Juvenile Services-Agent Curriculum. NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

The Probation and Parole Officer 1 - Juvenile (pay grade level PS-109) has a Special Entrance Rate of $1,282.50 Bi-weekly. The Probation and Parole Officer 2 - Juvenile (pay grade level PS-110) has a Special Entrance Rate of $1,378.96 Bi-weekly.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from the Probation and Parole Officer 2--Juvenile in that the incumbent receives close supervision and guidance.
Examples of Work:
Prepares predispositional investigations and similar reports, discharge plans, etc. for courts with juvenile jurisdiction.
Transports clients to and from residential and correctional facilities.
Provides offenders and their families with an understanding of court expectations.
Works closely with judges, law enforcement agencies, and various community-based resources in providing services and supervision to juveniles.
Keeps the court advised on progress of juveniles under supervision as well as those committed to correctional institutions.
Maintains case records and data files including narrative entries, reports, forms, and court documents as well as updating case activities and status for the automated data system.
Determines risks and needs of juveniles under agency custody or supervision and develops and implements service plans to meet those needs.
Schedules and conducts intake screening interviews and prepares recommendations to the district attorney.
Testifies in court hearings accompanying or representing youth and age! ncy.
Develops and monitors informal adjustment agreements for ! juveniles prior to adjudication as authorized by a district attorney or the court.
Serves as secondary case manager for juveniles committed to the DPSC and assigned to secure facilities.
